Meals are delivered to the elderly and homebound in the City of Muscatine who are unable to prepare their own meals. Priority is given to persons age 60 or older. Meals are available on a short-term basis for persons recovering from a hospital stay. If a person is able to prepare their own meals or lives with someone who can prepare their meals, Meals On Wheels may be denied. Our Outreach Coordinator may come to your home to evaluate your need.

Milestones Area Agency on Aging, is a non-profit organization, working with and through community organizations to implement the provisions and intent of the Older Americans Act. As an Aging and Disability Resource Center (LifeLong Links), Milestones helps older Iowans age 60+, adults living with disabilities and their caregivers plan for long-term independent living by providing information and making referrals to a wide range of local services and programs. Options Counseling provides a person-centered, interactive planning process to help identify long-term support preferences and develop an individual action plan. It provides a link to community-based service organizations that offer services such as housing, health care, transportation, employment, mental health, respite, nutrition, adaptive equipment, etc. Milestones offers a sliding-fee schedule for coordination services; however, in-home care providers may charge for their services which may be covered by Medicare and/or private insurance.
Senior Nutrition Program offers daily nutritious meals during the week to individuals age 60 and over which are served in a social, congregate dining center or delivered to the home. Individual nutrition counseling and group nutrition/wellness education is also offered.
Adult/Elder Abuse Prevention and Awareness Program provides resources, information and proactive solutions for elders, adults with disabilities and their families who have a concern for their safety and well-being.
Family Caregiver Program supports people who care for their aging parents, spouses or others by providing information and resources along with individual counseling and support groups.
Wellness & Safety Programs offer proven strategies to promote healthy activities and provide tools to better manage chronic conditions. Workshops are conducted by a trained instructor, offering Tai Chi for Arthritis, Matter of Balance (falls prevention) and Better Choices Better Health (chronic disease self-management). Some workshops require a fee.

What Is Case Management?
Case Management is a state program that coordinates in-home services that will help you live safe and comfortable in your own home. Case Management will not take the place of family or friends who are already helping you. It will support their efforts and fill in where needed. You want to stay in your own home and we want to help you. Case Management represents a lot of people and agencies who want to help support you in your home.
How Can it Help Me?
A variety of home and community based providers are available to give you the help you need to remain at home. A typical care plan may include home-delivered meals, help with house cleaning and transportation to doctor's appointments. Or it could be as simple as a personal emergency response system. It's your choice as to the amount of help you get and by whom. Milestones can provide a list of helpful community based service organizations that include:

The Property Tax Credit/Rent Refund program at Senior Resources assists elderly or disabled persons to fill out forms to receive a property tax credit or rent refund between the motns of February through May. Rebuilding Together Muscatine County is a nonprofit that brings together volunteers to rebuild and revitalize the community and assist low-income persons with home repairs to allow individuals to remain in their home.
To apply for assistance: There is an application to fill out that is available on the website. A limited number of applications can be accepted. Persons served may include the elderly, individuals with disabilities, at-risk families with children and veterans/military families or persons.

Senior Resources is a grass roots social service agency providing services and resources to senior citizens 60 years of age and older and to adults with disabilities.
Senior Resources offers the following services to senior citizens; Meals on Wheels, Adult Day Center, Home Repair, Chore (lawn care, snow removal) and Outreach services.
In addition, the agency offers SHIIP Counseling. SHIIP helps seniors and adults with disabilities to navigate their Medicare and other insurance needs and options. Senior Resources also maintains a durable medical lending closet free to community members of any age.
The medical equipment lending closet and Outreach are free services, all others employ a sliding fee scale that determines charges based upon the senior's income. We accept Medicaid, check, cash, and most major credit cards.
