A Place of Your Own is an online class to prepare individuals for home ownership. The cost is $45, which includes 5 lessons and a certification exam with unlimited retakes. A class such as this may be required in order to receive some home loans. The Autism Support Program provides Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services to eligible children.

Eligibility requirements:
-Under 9 years old at time of application
-Autism diagnosis by a child psychiatrist, developmental pediatrician, or clinical psychologist within 24 months of date of application
-Child does not qualify for Medicaid or coverage under a commercial insurance plan
-Meets specified Federal Poverty Level income guidelines (under 400% of FPL)

This program can provide income-based financial assistance to individuals pursuing vocational training programs that do not qualify for traditional financial aid. Examples of programs that may qualify include production welding, truck driving, logistics, industrial maintenance, CNC machinist, ProE Basics, Industrial electricity, Lab Technician, alternative energy, food service/dietary manager, clerk/receptionist, home care aid, and certified nurse aid.

Trinity Muscatine Public Health Coordinated Intake Program

At Trinity Muscatine Public Health, our goal is to connect with all new and expecting mothers who reside in Muscatine County to provide them with information about resources available and to connect them to the supports they may need.

  • Muscatine Community School District’s Parents as Teachers Program helps you understand child development and connect you to the resources you need to make the best choices for your family. Parents as Teachers offers personal visits customized for the needs of your family.
  • Lutheran Services in Iowa’s HOPES and Parents as Teachers Programs are a free and voluntary in-home visitation programs for parents who would like to learn more about creating a healthy future for their young child and empower you to be your child’s first teacher! Family Support Specialists and Parent Educators offer parenting tips and support, child development information, and more in order to help parents achieve their goals for their family.   • Child Care Resource and Referral can help you find quality childcare for your family by providing referrals to childcare programs that meet your needs, information on quality child care and child development, help with making informed child care choices, and child care financial assistance information.
  • The Mississippi Bend Area Education Agency’s Early Access Program is Iowa’s system of early intervention services that supports families with young children birth to age three, who may have concerns about their child’s growth and development. Early Access services are provided at no cost to young children that qualify and their families. These services might include education consultation, occupational therapy, and more.
  • Family Development and Self Sufficiency (FaDSS) is a completely voluntary program that can be tailored to families’ individual needs. FaDSS is a home visitation program that assists families to become self-sufficient through a strength-based approach. Families must be receiving cash assistance (FIP) through the State of Iowa and actively participating in Promise Jobs.
  • Family Program Services of the Muscatine YMCA provides parenting education, self-sufficiency trainings, respite, grandparent support, Dad’s group following the “24/7 Dads” curriculum, and family focused activities.   • The Department of Human Services Income Maintenance program helps families with Child Care Assistance, Food Assistance, Family Investment Program (FIP), Iowa Health and Wellness, and Medicaid. (563) 263-9302
  • Iowa State University Extension & Outreach - Buy. Eat. Live Healthy. Trying to stretch your food dollars?  Use WIC food in more interesting ways?  Feed picky eaters in your home?  Cook more?  All of those things are part of the free Buy. Eat. Live Healthy series which can be taught in your home right in your kitchen or other convenient location.  Call your local Iowa State University Extension and Outreach educator at 563.263.5701 to find out more!
  • Early Head Start/Head Start programs provide free quality early childhood education to children ages prenatal through five years of age. They provide education and support, developmental curriculum, family support services, nutritious meals, and kindergarten readiness. Center and home-based programs are available. caeiowa.org
  • The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) serves Iowa residents who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or post-partum; infants, and children up to five years of age. They provide nutritional counseling, breastfeeding support, referrals to other programs and a variety of healthy, nutritious foods for your family.
  • Trinity Muscatine Public Health provides many services for families in their child rearing years with young children: Immunizations for those who qualify, assistance with applications for Medicaid (state insurance) and Hawk-i (free or low-cost healthcare for kids and teens), reproductive health and family planning services, support services for pregnant and/or parenting teens, developmental screenings for children 5 years and younger and a physician-referred 1st Five program that links families with children 5 years old and younger to community services. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) offers assistance with preparing and online filing of income tax returns for qualifying individuals. Per the IRS website, qualifying individuals include "people who generally make $54,000 or less, persons with disabilities, the elderly and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns".

The Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) program is geared toward those 60 years and older or with questions regarding pension and retirement concerns.
