Milestones Area Agency on Aging, is a non-profit organization, working with and through community organizations to implement the provisions and intent of the Older Americans Act. As an Aging and Disability Resource Center (LifeLong Links), Milestones helps older Iowans age 60+, adults living with disabilities and their caregivers plan for long-term independent living by providing information and making referrals to a wide range of local services and programs. Options Counseling provides a person-centered, interactive planning process to help identify long-term support preferences and develop an individual action plan. It provides a link to community-based service organizations that offer services such as housing, health care, transportation, employment, mental health, respite, nutrition, adaptive equipment, etc. Milestones offers a sliding-fee schedule for coordination services; however, in-home care providers may charge for their services which may be covered by Medicare and/or private insurance.
Senior Nutrition Program offers daily nutritious meals during the week to individuals age 60 and over which are served in a social, congregate dining center or delivered to the home. Individual nutrition counseling and group nutrition/wellness education is also offered.
Adult/Elder Abuse Prevention and Awareness Program provides resources, information and proactive solutions for elders, adults with disabilities and their families who have a concern for their safety and well-being.
Family Caregiver Program supports people who care for their aging parents, spouses or others by providing information and resources along with individual counseling and support groups.
Wellness & Safety Programs offer proven strategies to promote healthy activities and provide tools to better manage chronic conditions. Workshops are conducted by a trained instructor, offering Tai Chi for Arthritis, Matter of Balance (falls prevention) and Better Choices Better Health (chronic disease self-management). Some workshops require a fee.
MOTTS Program (Hope Haven)- Wapello

The MOTTS program serves individuals with disabilities and mental illness. Primary payment sources are the Intellectual Disability or Brain Injury waivers.
Staff provide supervised activities and programming including skills practice in cooking, safety, and social interaction.
MuscaBus Paratransit

MuscaBus provides ParaTransit for individuals who cannot access the fixed route due to a disability. There is a $2.00 fare per ride, but an assistant to the rider may ride for free. An application must be filled out and accepted for ParaTransit use. Individuals with disabilities may also use JARC or New Freedom transportation if needed.

The Muscatine branch of Special Olympics Iowa is hosted and run by the Muscatine Community YMCA.
This program provides year-round sports training and competition for individuals with intellectual disabilities. They also hold various fundraisers and community activities to raise money for the program.

The Property Tax Credit/Rent Refund program at Senior Resources assists elderly or disabled persons to fill out forms to receive a property tax credit or rent refund between the motns of February through May. Rebuilding Together Muscatine County is a nonprofit that brings together volunteers to rebuild and revitalize the community and assist low-income persons with home repairs to allow individuals to remain in their home.
To apply for assistance: There is an application to fill out that is available on the website. A limited number of applications can be accepted. Persons served may include the elderly, individuals with disabilities, at-risk families with children and veterans/military families or persons.
To volunteer: There are many ways to volunteer with Rebuilding Together Muscatine, including skilled work, adopting a home, donating materials, assistance with coordination and organization of the projects, and monetary donations.
